Google Business View (former Google Business Photos) is the new name for Google's Street View inside of businesses. This change of name comes at a junction point when I see the program entering a mature stage. Allow me to explain why.

  1. Google Business View now shows a deeper integration with Google Maps. Evidence of this is the new Google Maps update and the new Google Maps Site.
  2. Alignment of the program’s name with Street View (almost 10 years old, officially launched in 2007). This change which might look superficial is not. Street View and Business View are one and the same, and the most important differentiator between Google Maps and other mapping services.
  3. This also comes at a moment when Google is putting his marketing machinery behind "Business View" to accelerate the pace of interior views of hotels.
  4. Developers are already seeing "Business View", as a platform to build applications that add functionalities to the virtual environment, therefore in process to become an ecosystem within the Google Maps Infrastructure.

The benefits of "Google Business View" to the bottom line of your business could go from significant, to moderate, or minimal - short term. Just like the Internet 15 years ago. At the time some people were skeptical about the impact of having a website, to later realize that at a web page was required - as a minimum. The same applies to "Google Business View", think of it as a natural extension of an increasingly Visual Internet. Therefore, adding "Business View" to your business, is one of the minimum requirements to keep up with today's Internet.
