The future is the new present. As recent as last week a friend and I were discussing an augmented reality application for marketing. This conversation took us to brainstorm about the potential of making items interactive inside Google Virtual Tours. Just imagine to zoom in Cyrus Co. Virtual Tour, hover your mouse over the football game table - or any other item - and have information like pricing, offers, specifications.... pop-up. Sounds like the future?

Later in the week, I was at the "Street View Behind the Scene" presentation in Google’s NYC Headquarters. After the presentation Luc Vincent, Engineering Director of Street View answered questions from the public. He is - the guy - behind Google Street View since very early days. This is what he answered to my question about interactive items inside Virtual Tours. “That’s one of my dreams, given my background in OCR and imaging processing.”

The following video give us an insight into the futuristic reality of the modern maps, revealing things we couldn’t imagine a few years ago. (Luc Vincent is in the video at +1:27 min.)

Now is easy and affordable be part of this brave new world...
