Where to find the Google Virtual Tours embed code in the new Google Maps.

Can’t find the embed code? Correct. With the latest Google Maps update, the embed code for Google Virtual Tours disappeared. The only way to get the embed code of a Google Virtual Tour is to revert Google Maps to the old version.

We been asked time and again about this, so I’ll take this opportunity to update all about the latest changes. Before, at the old version, the embed code was available right from the Google Maps. (see Fig. 2 below) For some reason, isn’t possible to do this in the New Google Maps. (I assume this is a feature that will come in later updates). The only way is to revert to the Classic Google Maps.

To revert to the old version of Google Maps, go to the ? icon - at the bottom right hand corner of the screen - and click on Revert to the Classic Google Maps. You can either, revert only for one browsing session or update the settings to continue using the old version forward. This is done by clicking yes at the yellow caption that appears at the top center of the screen. “You have switched back to classic Google Maps for this session. Remember this choice for next time? Yes - Dismiss”.

New Google Maps

Once at the Classic Google Maps click on the chain link icon. A new window appear with the link to the GVT and the embed code. If you want to further customize the size of the window click Customize and preview embedded map. (Image below)

A new pop-up window (shown below) will appear with the choices available. For a custom size, select Custom and enter the size in pixels, copy and paste the HTML code to your Website or Social Media, and that's it.

Hope this was helpful.
